WSL Announces Josephine Marsh as 2025 Athena Scholarship Recipient
WSL is proud to announce Josephine Marsh of Our Lady of the Lake High School as the 2025 recipient of the Athena Education Scholarship.
A student of exceptional talent and commitment, Josephine embodies the core values of the Athena Scholarship — leadership, academic excellence, service to others, and advocacy for women. With an outstanding 4.28 GPA, Josephine has not only achieved academic distinction but has also balanced a demanding schedule of extracurricular activities, athletics, and community service.
Josephine’s dedication to making a difference is evident in her work with Interact Club, a youth leadership program partnered with Rotary International. Rising through leadership roles from International Director to President, she spearheaded impactful initiatives including mission trips to the Dominican Republic, where she led home-building projects and health outreach efforts in underserved communities. Her advocacy extended to addressing women’s health and empowerment in marginalized villages — a testament to her empathy and strength as a leader.
In addition to her service work, Josephine holds leadership positions as President of the Rotary Youth District Counciland has been a key figure in organizing district-wide conferences to promote youth service projects across Southwest Michigan.
A multi-sport varsity athlete, Josephine earned All-Conference, All-District, and Academic All-State honors in volleyball, soccer, basketball, and track. Her accomplishments reflect not only athletic skill but also resilience, teamwork, and leadership on and off the field.
Josephine’s remarkable ability to lead with purpose, compassion, and integrity while advocating for others — particularly women and girls — makes her an inspiring recipient of this year’s Athena Scholarship. As she prepares for her next chapter at either Loyola University Chicago or the University of Michigan, we are confident she will continue to exemplify the spirit of Athena by lifting others as she rises.
Please join us in congratulating Josephine Marsh on this well-deserved honor!
